Hanagata
Toru . . .
is not an impressive character. He is solemn,
not expressive and generally cold and unfriendly towards other people.
Aloofness aside, he looks cultivated, sensible, mature and respectable.
Wonder why no one commented that he looks old. What with all those thick-rimmed
glasses and cardigans...
He is also one who uses his brains more than his muscles. But unlike Ikegami
Ryoji who seems sly and scheming, Hanagata gives me the impression that
he uses his intelligence for more orthodox purposes.
As a leader, he is effective, responsible and leads by example rather than
by guiding or dictation. And he does possess the acumen, composure and
confidence to inspire respect among his teammates.
He does not seem to be an approachable person. His standoffish and arrogant
manner does not rouse neighbourly feelings in others. And although he is
perfectly competent but perhaps he uses all his mental capabilities on
orthodox matters, he seems totally devoid of humour.
