is not a fellow to trifle with. This is, of course, partly due to his fighting skills. But mainly due to his volatility and violent temper. He is easily provoked into a highly agitated state during which he does not think too clearly. His being touchy probably has a lot to do with it. He is especially touchy about his height or rather the lack of it and of course, 'his' Ayako chan. 
           Miyagi's lack of self-control often makes him appear stupid. But he is more than he seems. When he is in control, he is a rational and perceptive thinker. He is one who understands his role. And though he is a gung-ho showoff, he takes great pride in excelling in his duties even if he is not the super star. 
           He is a hot-blooded young man who understands his own likes and dislikes. But he is not so narrow-minded such that he would reject all others if he does not get what he wants. He is also very conscious of his appearance. At least, the most conscious in Shohoku. 
           Despite all that is written, Miyagi Ryota is rather childish and innocent. Actually, that is not all that surprising if one recalls that he is only fifteen years old.
