If Rukawa Kaede speaks his mind more often, he would become remarkably like Sakuragi Hanamichi. He is also abrasive, arrogant, egocentric, self-centred, selfish, stubborn, bad-tempered and lacks a civic-mind. But of course, he is the quiet sort and more sensible, though not by much. 
          With his social traits, i.e. cold, unfriendly, expressionless, uncompassionate, insensitive and nonchalant, he gets along surprisingly well with his teammates. Maybe I should say his teammates get along well with him. His skills, confidence, diligence and perseverance gained him their admiration, respect and trust. Furthermore, his desire to win blends in superfluously with the team's goal. Although it might not have been very obvious, he does take part and even help in morale boosting and he does respect his seniors. 
          Rukawa is very vain; in fact, he is bordering on narcissistism. He takes very good care of himself. If he cares about the people around him half as well as himself, he would be a much warmer and approachable person. 
          Actually, he is not as unexpressive as everyone makes him out to be. Sometimes he volunteers comments, usually regarding Sakuragi Hanamichi although they are usually unpleasant. And if you learn to read his reactions to various people and situations, you would realise that he is really very straightforward. Rukawa does not think too much so he does not have too much to say anyway. Compared to people like Sendoh Akira and Anzai Mitsuyoshi, he is moderately talkative. He is really a simple character.
