This nozaru (i.e. wild monkey) is as noisy and animated as his nickname suggests. He seems to chatter a lot and definitely gestures very extravagantly. As with most other 'Slam Dunk' characters, he possesses an overly high self-esteem and a short-temper. He is self-centred and not very sensitive to the feelings of others. 
            But his impulsive, enthusiastic, energetic and almost tireless pursuit of fun and limelight gives him an endearing child-like quality. This attribute is further accentuated by his keenness and sincerity in all his words and actions; be it giving caustic advice or laughing at Sakuragi Hanamichi. He is one who speaks his mind and does whatever he wishes with fervour.  
            Kiyota is a cute hot-blooded youth who could develop into a better person than many would expect.
